Dr. S.M. Kantikar holds an MBBS and MD in Pathology from Dr. V.M. Govt. Medical College, Solapur, an LLB from National Law College, Shimoga, and a PhD in Law from NLSIU, Bangalore. As a Member (Retd.) of the NCDRC (2013-2018), he presided over more than 1,000 medical malpractice cases.

Medical practice, legal scholarship, and judicial experience: 14 years as a Consultant Pathologist, Honorary Professor of Law and Medicine, and the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award 2021 for the medico-legal field.
